Stained Glass with Flowers for a Door: Elegance and Hand-Painted Details
We were contacted via email by a couple from Norway, specifically from the beautiful city of Bergen, with an idea for a project involving a stained glass with flowers for a door in their residence. The prospective clients had very clear ideas: they wanted a floral composition celebrating their four favorite flowers – yellow echinacea, snowdrop, water lily, and a red rose – painted using our techniques and framed by an elegant leaf decoration.
The Sketch: The Foundation of the Project
Demonstrating remarkable drawing skills, our clients provided us with an initial sketch that served as the starting point for the final design. This allowed us to fully understand their vision. We then adapted the sketch to the technical requirements of glassmaking, preserving the original flower imagery and harmonizing the design with the material’s technical characteristics.
Creating the Stained Glass Panel
To bring this stained glass with flowers for a door to life, we employed traditional and handcrafted techniques combined with unique painted details. The four main flowers were painted with grisaille and colored enamels, fired at high temperatures after each step to ensure durability and longevity.
We played with effects of opacity and transparency to add depth to the composition, finishing it with a red border made of blown glass, which elegantly frames the panel while adding a modern touch.
Safety and Functionality
To ensure both safety and thermal insulation, the stained glass panel was set within a double-glazed unit. The double glazing consists of laminated, shatterproof glass, which, combined with the stained glass panel, forms a single unit with a thickness of 21/22 mm. This solution not only protects the stained glass but also provides excellent energy efficiency.
International Shipping
Once the stained glass with flowers for a door was completed, it was encased in the double-glazed unit and carefully packed in a wooden crate designed to protect the artwork during transport. The shipment arrived in Bergen, where our creation found its final home, transforming the clients’ door into a true masterpiece.
