Meet your teacher
For me, the magic of stained glass comes from the way in which coloured glass becomes transformed by light, the way in which the tiny bubbles trapped within the glass, give it movement and sparkle. The magic becomes complete once paint is applied to the glass, creating delicate shading, subduing the light in places whilst highlighting it in others. This art form is unique. It has transparency within its soul and this becomes glorious and radiant with light.
What will I learn?
The leaded stained glass technique is the one we use most regularly for our commissions. We will share our experience and good practices with you to teach you each phase of this craft so at the end of the course you’ll be able to continue practice alone.

What will I learn?
IKO Studio prides itself on its high-quality glass painting and we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to develop your skills in this area, with a course full of tips, tricks and advice for obtaining professional results every time. The course covers how to correctly mix the glass pigments, using essential oils to trace the perfect lines and to mix the pigments with water to obtain different varieties of shading. You will learn how to use badger brushes to soften your painting, how to apply transparent enamels and how to fire various pigments and stains in the kiln.

What will I learn?
During this course you will learn the technique of leaded stained glass and having the opportunity to create a mosaic of coloured glass. You will then learn the grisaille painting technique and learn to use transparent enamels. This way you will be able to create more complex and detailed projects. You will have less time to practice painting on glass, but you will complete your course by assembling your painted panels with lead and soldering them.

During this course students create a copper foil (Tiffany style) stained glass project, either a panel or a three-dimensional object. You will learn the different techniques of this craft during the creation of their work.

What a fantastic course! Having never taken a stained glass course before, I was quite nervous about what to expect. It was also a fantastic opportunity to view Orvieto, as Diego showed me his favorite sites. I had a marvelous time shopping at the market and learning how to make Roman artichokes! Such a great experience which comes highly reccomended!
The course is fantastic even for beginners, not only did I learned to paint on glass , but Diego also teaches you how to cut glass, assemble the glass and finish the window. Of the teacher I have to say that he is a very good one.

As a beginner in the stained glass art, the course has been an amazing experience. I attended a week intensive course, and besides that Diego is a master in stained glass art, he is also a wonderful host, a guide and a chef. All his instructions and advice are very valuable and practical. Also, the price of the course is very reasonable comparing to other stained glass courses. I highly recommend the course as it’s a unique experience.
I traveled from Chile to follow the course of the master Diego without any previous knowledge with this technique and without speaking Italian, but this did not prevent this from being an uplifting and productive experience. Diego speaks Spanish perfectly, is very patient and generous in his teaching and his method is very effective, because he tries to adapt to the level of each of his students. In a week of intense work, I introduced myself to the technique and built a beautiful stained glass window with grisaille and enamels while living life in a romantic medieval Italian town.
