Sliding Door with Geometric Glass

Sliding Door with Geometric Glass: Minimal Design and Light as the Protagonis

Created for a client from Arezzo, this sliding door with geometric glass is a perfect blend of functionality and art.

The Idea Behind the Project

Ivano and Carla, great lovers of Bolsena and its lake, met us during one of their visits to our workshop. Their request was clear: an artistic glass design for a sliding door with geometric glass that would enhance their recently renovated apartment in Arezzo.
Lovers of geometric and minimal design, Ivano and Carla chose a style dominated by white, with regular-shaped marble flooring and cladding. They were looking for a luminous door made with white, black, or, preferably, colorless glass.

The Design and Materials

The concept of transparent glass is often confused with colorless glass. Transparent glass can be colored, as transparency refers to visibility through the material, not its color. For this doorsliding door with geometric glass, we exclusively selected colorless glass with different textures, created like actual prints during production. The idea was to create a geometric patchwork of sparkling glass pieces, including:

  • 1970s printed glass made from recycled 1970s glass, adding a retro yet modern charm.
  • Central rhombuses created with Lamberts blown glass, characterized by countless trapped bubbles that create a unique effect.
  • Textured Glass: Lamberts ornament glass with thin parallel lines.
  • Cathedral glass with a hammered effect, ideal for providing privacy without sacrificing brightness.

The result is a door that allows abundant light to filter through while ensuring the right amount of privacy, thanks to its frosted effect. Each element contributes to filtering and transforming the light in a distinctive way, without compromising its color purity. The geometric shapes reflect in the stained-glass design and the arrangement of the glass pieces, resulting in a refined and harmonious outcome.

Structure and Craftsmanship Details

The frame for this sliding door with geometrica glass was made of white lacquered wood by a craftsman from Arezzo, with a modern, minimalist style perfectly aligned with the apartment. The frame was designed to be thin enough to give as much space as possible to the artistic glass.
To ensure stability and long-lasting durability, the panel was reinforced with two iron bars, precisely shaped by our trusted blacksmith to follow the lines of the plumb. This intervention ensures the solidity of the stained-glass work without compromising its aesthetic.

A Functional Work of Art

This geometric sliding door is not just a functional element to separate spaces but a true piece of artistic design. It interacts with light and the environment, enhancing them in every detail.
