I went to visit Ely, a charming town in the county of Cambridgeshire of England, a few yers ago. Ely maintains one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the United Kingdom. The cathedral was built by Benedictine monks in the eleventh century and today it plays home to the English Museum of Stained Glass.

Medieval Stained Glass at Ely Museum

The museum is the only one in England specialising exclusively in stained glass art, it hosts a collection of work ranging from the thirteenth century to the present day, including works by Edward Burne Jones, Harry Clarke and John Piper.

Ely is only an hour and a half from London and is an unmissable destination for anyone who is planing a visit to the UK and is interested in this art.

Below is a video presentation of the museum and the cathedral of Ely.
