In our copper foil stained glass course, students will create a panel or a three-dimensional piece using the copper foil, or Tiffany, technique. They will learn the steps and procedures required for this method, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of creating a stained glass piece with copper foil compared to the traditional leaded technique.

For our copper foil stained glass course, we also ask students to arrive with a clear idea of the project they wish to create, perhaps by preparing a small sketch at home or selecting a simple stained glass design to reproduce from online sources. This helps to avoid wasting valuable time once here, eliminating uncertainty about the project. Additionally, we encourage students to avoid overly ambitious designs, as learning is often more effective with a simpler project that allows for focused, unhurried work.
I highly recommend this experience! Diego is a very professional and passionate teacher. The course is spectacular!
Once the project has been finalised, it will be drawn to full scale on a sheet of tracing paper. The cutting lines will then be marked, typically corresponding to changes in glass colour or where required for technical reasons.
Once the project is ready, students will be introduced to the various types and colours of glass available both on the market and in our workshop.
They will become familiar with the glass cutter, learning how to hold and handle it, and will practice briefly with standard transparent glass.
Once they have gained confidence in cutting, students will be guided in selecting glass colours for their Tiffany stained glass piece.
They can then begin cutting the individual pieces and refining each one using the diamond grinder.
Once all the pieces of glass are cut, we teach you how to apply the copper foil along the glass edges.
The copper foiled glass pieces are then laid in their exact position on the normal paper and students will learn how to weld the panel together using solder and a soldering iron.
In addition to the practical side, students will be guided through all the procedures to operate at home in a healthy and safe way with materials that can be dangerous.
All the work produced during the course will be kept by the students We will support your learning by offering all the studio materials you need and carefully supervise and advise you during the painting phases. At the end of our glass painting courses we support students purchase colours, mediums and brushes to continue practicing at home.
It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide all the necessary tools for the creation of the work and to follow the students for the duration of the copper foil stained glass course.
Our copper foil stained glass course is intensive, providing students with the opportunity to fully dedicate themselves to their project until it is completed. Oru courses last a week (7 days).
Students normally arrive on Sunday afternoon/evening and are accompanied to their accommodation where they can settle in and rest before starting their course on Monday morning. The course will end on Sunday afternoon.
