IKO Studio is a stained glass studio in Italy which began life in Rome, before moving to the Umbrian countryside, near Orvieto. The studio was founded by stained glass artist, Diego Tolomelli who, after working for more than 10 years with some of the most prestigious stained glass studios in England, returned to Italy.

Initially Diego began working in a stained glass studio in Rome, and took part in several notable commissions (see biography). Later he decided to open his own professional studio where he offers stained glass of the highest possible quality.

“For me, the magic of stained glass comes from the way in which coloured glass becomes transformed by light, the way in which the tiny bubbles, trapped within the glass, give it movement and sparkle. The magic becomes complete once paint is applied to the glass, creating delicate shading, subduing the light in places whilst highlighting it in others. This art form is unique. It has transparency within its soul and this becomes glorious and radiant with light.”

It is this passion that drives IKO Studio to create unique, tasteful and complex projects and it is the professionalism and the creative touch to every commission that means IKO Studio continues to evolve and perfect its unique style.

Our stained glass offers an original and complimentary touch to windows, doors, sliding doors, screens, skylights and illuminated suspended ceilings. IKO Studio also creates unique wall lights and table lamps.

IKO studio produces stained glass of the highest quality, using the finest mouth blown glass available on the market. Diego’s produces some of the most spectacular painted stained glass available in Italy. Each original design begins life as drawing, meeting the specifications of his private clients, interior designers and architects.

Diego is a highly skilled artist and his attention to detail is outstanding. The stained glass he produces in Italy look as wonderful close up as they do from a distance. He produces stained glass panels, stained glass windows and stained glass lights and lamps in either traditional leaded stained glass or using the Tiffany stained glass technique. He specialises in traditional, contemporary, abstract, geometric, religious or secular designs.

Painted stained glass is IKO studio’s strength. Each layer of the image is built up using stained glass paint, enamels and stains, which are then kiln fired. The painting lasts a life time, as it uses the same techniques found in medieval cathedrals and churches all over Europe. His stained glass works of art can be found in churches, houses and public buildings in England, Italy, Africa and America.

Our studio is housed within a beautiful country villa 7km from Orvieto and the motorway, at a little over an hour by car from Rome and an hour and a half from Florence, we are happy to receive visitors at the studio.
